This program will address the political importance of Asian American votes; the history of voting rights laws; recent and potential voting rights litigation impacting the Asian American community; voter protection issues that arise during early voting and on Election Day; and what attendees can do to help protect the electoral process.  It will be geared towards those who have less knowledge of the electoral process as well as those who have more experience with voting rights laws, by providing a high-level overview as well as drilling down a bit more into select issues of relevance. The objective is for attendees to walk away with an understanding of how elections impact the Asian American community, an appreciation of why AABANY members should be concerned about the electoral process, and an awareness of how they can help to protect free and fair elections.
