Deputy Commissioner for Policy and External Affairs, the New York City Commission of Human Rights
JoAnn Kamuf Ward is currently the Deputy Commissioner for Policy and External Affairs with the New York City’s Commission of Human Rights. Prior to joining the Commission, Kamuf Ward directed the Human Rights in the U.S. Project at the Columbia Law School Human Rights Institute, where she promoted the use of a human rights framework to strengthen racial, gender, and socio-economic justice, and focused on strengthening government accountability. She has written about U.S. human rights policy on Just Security and Politico, and co-authored several law review articles. JoAnn was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where she currently resides with her husband and two children.
